Intra Oral Scanner

Most procedures that previously required taking impressions (moulds) of your teeth, can now be completed using our 3Shape Trios intra oral scanner. Your whole mouth can be scanned in just a few minutes, which makes it quicker and more comfortable for you. The resultant scan is a more accurate representation of your mouth and teeth, and, as it can be sent digitally to the laboratory, greatly reduces the turn-around time for laboratory work.

Our scanner can also perform other functions such as Smile Design. Scans can also be taken at different times and compared to aid in the monitoring of changes in your mouth over time, e.g., tooth wear or alignment.

Intra Oral Camera

Our SoproLife intra oral camera enables us to capture clear images of any areas of interest on your teeth and soft tissues. These images can be projected on to the in-surgery monitor to allow you to understand what is happening in your mouth, be it decay, cracked teeth, broken fillings, or soft tissue lesions.

In addition to capturing images, the camera can also be used as a diagnostic aid by making use of fluorescence technology to detect decay in the earliest stages. The same technology can also be used during cavity preparation to assist with the detection and removal of infected dentine - this ensures a more conservative approach to treatment by maintaining more sound tooth structure.

Digital X-rays

We use a Acteon PSPIX digital x-ray system to assist with diagnosis and treatment planning when indicated. The digital system results in less radiation exposure for the patient, and provides clear images within a matter of seconds. As with the intra oral camera images, these can also be viewed on a monitor so you can see what is happening with your teeth.

The quality of digital images will not deteriorate over time, and they can easily be sent to other practitioners or specialists if required.

Digital x-rays also allow us to be more environmentally friendly as toxic chemicals are not required for the developing of the images.

Rotary Endodontics and Apex Locator

During root canal treatment we utilize our Maillefer X-Smart Plus endodontic motor. This is a precision computer-controlled handpiece which , when used with the latest rotary files, allows us to more thoroughly clean and shape the root canal system. A more thoroughly cleaned root canal results in better treatment outcomes.

An electronic apex locator is used to assist in accurately determining the root canal length, to further optimize clinical outcomes.
